Drumroll….Sock Madness 9 has begun! The pattern for round 1 is the Harry Potter-inspired Alohomora Socks by Malena Andersen. I’m enjoying knitting them so far even though I’m going down to teeny weeny 2mm needles to get them to fit my feet. Of course the need for smaller needles didn’t click until the day of the pattern release (a Sunday of course!). Copenhagen was cold, windy, rainy and horrible that day and yet there was one huge supermarket which I knew MIGHT stock the needles I needed. The big question was, could I be arsed to go?
As I pulled on my waterproofs and warm hat, ready to brave the elements in the pursuit of needles, my dear husband commented that only something knitting related would ever persuade me to leave the flat on such a foul day. Sadly, my bold quest turned into a fruitless search- there were no 2mm needles in, the supermarket seemed full of screaming children, and to top it all I lost one of my cosiest scarves! It was just one of those days.
So sensibly, I went home, drank lots of tea, grumbled a bit, and got myself some super smooth Addi lace 2mm needles the next day when the LYS reopened. All for the love of socks and yarn!

Yep, it’s a mad time. ;) Think I might have gone to the same wool shop to get 2mm’s that Monday just ’cause I needed to for Sock Madness!
I’m glad it wasn’t just me, then! :) How are you doing with Alohomora so far? Or are you one of the insanely speedy ones who’s already finished? ;)
Well, I finished. ;)
