WIP Wednesday: Phew!

I’m breathing a sigh of relief as I am finally coming to the end of the holiday gift knitting! Woohoo! I am lucky to have knit-worthy family, and I love being able to create handmade items that they will appreciate, but I am also looking at that finished object bag and wondering how it all got done!

Now the holiday knitting is getting complete, my attention is turning to finding a good holiday knitting project for myself. I wanted to get going on something colourful that would cheer me up through winter, and would also bust some of that stash. So I hunted down the Breezy Cardigan by Hannah Fettig on Ravelry (y’know, thinking ahead to spring/summer in the depths of winter).

I’ve heard good things about this pattern, and I discovered I had enough fingering weight sock yarn to make something rainbowy and lovely. But…after knitting for a while (and changing colours every 2 rows), I just wasn’t convinced the colours I’d chosen would look flattering on me. So I’ve put it to one side to think about, and instead have decided to go with Hannah’s Effortless Cardigan. It’s a worsted weight which I think I’ll get more wear from here in Denmark, and I’ve ordered some delicious Malabrigo Rios to make it in the Liquidambar colourway. I can’t wait to start it!

I’ve also FINALLY finished my Hraði sweater by Védís Jónsdóttir – I’ll try and get a photo of that up soon. It’s been lying sleeve-less and abandoned since the summer, and now it’s done i LOVE it (even if I did late-night kitchener the armpits and end up ripping a row of the body, necessitating in emergency sweater surgery, which I then bound off the wrong way).

Are you holiday knitting? Whether you’re making something for friends/family or something for yourself, I’d love to hear about it! Leave a comment in the thread below.

Happy Knitting!
