WIP Wednesday: A Yarn Bombed Chair and Hexipuff Love!

I’ve taken a bit of a creative diversion this week to have a knitting themed spring clean and regain control of the exploding project bags!

My stash and projects have been piling up recently. I don’t know if Stash Stress is an actual thing- but my yarn-brained imagination goes into overdrive at the sight of a single skein these days, and there’s lots of them around the flat! It was time to do some stash busting and transform the long neglected, don’t-know-what-to-do-with-this  yarn into something beautiful.

Learn how I created a searchable yarn stash database using Ravelry, in Sort Your Stash part 1 and part 2

A fellow knitter from the Copenhagen Yarn Lovers group gave me the idea to use some of my stash to “yarn bomb” my old wicker chair. I use this chair a lot of the time when I’m knitting, so it seemed a fitting choice for a yarn-themed upgrade. I’m just tightly wrapping the yarn so that it almost looks like fabric. There’s bits of handspun experiments, lopi remnants, and leftovers from various projects. Working with the different textures and colours was great, and the chair is getting more comfy too! I’m not sure how I’ll tackle the seat yet- if you have any ideas let me know!

During my knitty spring clean, I got out all my hibernating and half done projects and looked at them again to see if i was still up for finishing them. I admit, I’ve spread myself a bit thin during recent months. As a former monogamous knitter, having a lot of projects on the go isn’t working out as well for me as I hoped, and I’ve got some serious cast on-itis! So one or two projects got frogged, some gorgeous patterns were rediscovered in the depths of the project bag, and things generally  got lightened up a whole lot. I also rediscovered the joy of knitting hexipuffs for the Beekeeper Quilt by Tiny Owl Knits. They now have their own little box I can break into when I’m sitting in front of the TV. Each one takes me an hour or so, which fits in perfectly with some of my favourite shows, but exciting action sequences slow that down somewhat!

I hope you and your projects are doing fabulously this week and I’d love to hear your thoughts on knitty spring cleans and stash/project organisation. Are you a one-project-at-a-time knitter or do you have projects multiplying all over the house? Please share in the comment thread :)

Until next time, Happy Knitting!

    1. Yes, the beauty is you can just put as many together as you like for whatever you like! I saw that one person had made a cat bed quilt and stuffed them with catnip :)
